3 Ways To Use A Podcast For Your Business

You've heard it before but I'll say it again: it is proven that your audience needs to know, like and trust you before they buy from you.

The beauty of podcasting is that you can do this through an up-and-coming medium with little investment of time or money, and it has an extremely high return.

Today, I'm going to share with you my simple strategy to growing your income, influence, and impact by allowing your listeners to know, like, and trust you on your very own podcast.

1. Establish Credibility: Build trust and show your expertise

According to a recent study by, there are over 630,000 podcasts on iTunes and 16 million people say they are avid podcast fans.

Friends, this is not an accident: podcasts are on the rise because people value their time now more than ever. They love that they can listen to it while in the shower, folding laundry, or driving. So how, among all of the shows, can you show your listeners that you are the expert in your field? Here are a few ways:

-Interview experts in your field -Tell stories of how many years you have been in business or teaching this subject

-Give practical advice, tips, and tricks

-Present facts and less opinions

When you establish credibility in your industry, your audience is more likely to purchase something from you down the road because they trust your expert opinion. This step is crucial for those considering monetizing right away... I'm not saying that's a BAD idea, I'm just saying it may be something to consider

after the trust has been built.

2. Let them in. Show your listeners you are just like them!

As I was writing this post, I decided to take a look at my podcast's ratings and reviews to see if I can draw any inspiration from them. And I totally could! Below are two reviews that demonstrate my point EXACTLY.

So relatable and helpful! Can't wait for more episodes every week! Got my whole team hooked as well!
Honestly, every Friday morning on my drive to work I put on this podcast! Kristi is so honest and relatable, you can see exactly where she's coming from and when you listen it feels like she's just your gal pal you're sitting down to have coffee with! This girl is witty and funny and if you're not listening yet you're missing out!

The key to connecting with your audience so that they like you is relatability! Tell them a funny story, show them that you used to be in their shoes, engage them by asking their opinion. Your listeners are far more likely to trust what you have to say after they feel like your friend.

3. Sell, sell, sell! After you've established credibility and relatability, it's time to profit!

According to, podcasting ad revenue has increased from 69 million in 2015 to 402 million in 2018! Plus, podcast listeners are more likely to have subscriptions to streaming sites like Netflix and Hulu.

What does this mean for you? Good things, my friend. It means that your listeners are less likely to be exposed to traditional television ads. Couple that information with the growing ad revenue, and we can draw the simple conclusion that people are buying products from podcasts. In fact, 69% of listeners agreed that podcast ads made them aware of new products or services!

That being said, below are the ways you can monetize your podcast:

-Get paid for running ads on your show

-Team up with someone else in your niche and promote their product for a commission

-Physical (Books, Supplements)

-Digital (Software, Courses)

-Services (Coaching, Consulting)

-Events (Bootcamps, Summits)
